One news website, News Guru, reported that a group of soldiers killed a resident, named as Saheed Egusi, aged 30, when he reportedly challenged the soldiers. After the soldiers left, a mob formed and sighted an Air Force officer driving. They reportedly killed the officer in retaliation to the event that happened. As a result of this violence, two men were killed. This event was reportedly confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi. The event is said to have taken place on Sunday 23rd October 2022 in Owode Market, in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State. The soliders reportedly stormed Owode Market and broke into some shops in search of banned goods. They were also said to have taken bags of rice with them. An eyewitness said that Egusi was shot in the head whilst the soldiers were leaving. According to the eyewitness, the solders "came and started beating people. The person who was killed was the younger brother of the person that was beaten; he wasn't the owner of the goods; he was asking them to take it easy." "So, as the solders were going, he also took his car and went his way. So, the leader of the soldiers told his guys to shoot Egusi, and the soldiers shot him in the forehead."

For this reason, those who had a hand in the killing of the Air Force officer will be brought to book as well. However, the situation has been brought under control.”
