On October 3rd 2022, in the Oshodi area of Lagos, John Chinweolu, who is popularly known as ObiFlagBoy reported that a military officer saved him and his friend after there was an attempted lynching against them, whilst they were hoisting the flag of the Labour Party, showing the presidential candidate, Peter Obi and his running mate. He reported that "some group of guys were calling us from the terminal..they captured me like a thief. They dragged us to the terminal. Their chairman snatched the flag from us and used the stick to beat us." He said, "I don't know what would have happened to my friend and me right now if not for the soldier." This Day Live reported that in social media videos available you can visibly see the injuries to Chinweolu's lower lip and bruises on his left wrist. His friend reportedly sustained injuries and swollen face.
