Incident Description

Three suspects of robbery were set ablaze and killed after allegedly robbing Point of Sale operators at Abayi, along the Aba-Owerri Road, in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria. The robbers were on motorcycles and were caught by a "youth mob" who knocked them off their bikes and an eyewitness reported to Vanguard news that they were burnt in three separate places, at "Union Bank junction", at "UBA Bank" and at "Star Paper Mill". Tori News reported that the Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Geoffrey Ogbonna confirmed the incident on Channels Television on Monday July 4th, which corresponds to the level of verification graded in this report. The report said "“The jungle justice is preventing police authority to further probe the activities of robbery kingpin in the area, which has been terrorizing the residents; we don’t know their names, even the suspect that escaped," which insinuates that there may be more than three victims. This was corroborated by a social media post on Facebook, by Kenneth Tuga, which said that five were set ablaze.
